My work with Parks Canada

I accepted a one year contract with Parks Canada working with the Visitor Services and Communications team. My work is pretty diverse. I've assisted with the presentation of the Environmental Stewardship program in classrooms in some pretty remote communities; I'll be editing and revising various Visitor Information material about the parks in the Western Arctic as needed as well as internal documents. But I'm especially looking forward to going to Ivvavik Park in June as a leader for a high school biology field camp.

Last week, I was asked, as a Parks rep, to be a judge at the science fair at the elementary school. In a few weeks, I'll be attending their history fair. It's way more interesting to talk to the kids about their projects than to judge them.

Over the weekend, I made my debut as 'Boomer', the Parks Canada mascot, at the Inuvik Family Fair. It was pretty harrowing. I could never make it in Disneyland!

Hi Jan,
I thought I recognized the big brown animal, you can't hide that easily! But what kind of critter are you? Great silde show - you're really becoming a whiz at this blogging thing! Your work with the school kids sounds like fun. Good luck with the high school field trip - where is the park it will be in?

Great photos!
I just wrote you this big long comment and it got erased (on your old computer...Husayn still hasn't fixed it up)
Oh well, c'est la vie!
Glad to hear you're cooking...I still think your apple crumble's the best :) AND I've been bringing your canning to potlucks with me lately...I made dark chocolate pears the other week. I'm pretty much a favourite these days :)
